Toy Hazard Recalls
A large number of hazard recalls in the toy industry have struck the U.S. throughout the past 10 years. Either legitimately imported and fake “name brand” toys and games have been ushered into the U.S. mass produced in China and Taiwan, among the worst of the offenders. Starting from 1960 to 1990 there were a lot of items from numerous nations including the U.S. which had to issue recalls. With U.S. production standards overhauled as to requirements for product sales, a whole lot of the recall issue moved to imported items. At present, consumer protection agencies have substantial listings of recalled toys and games, with the principal supplier of them being China. And then there are the U.S. companies that compound those issues with their particular importation regulations and absence of standardized testing. These toys and games carry risks from asphyxiation to lead exposure and every thing in between. These are just some samples of toy risk recalls today.
Rhino Toys, a California based company has released a recall of roughly 5500 units of “Beado Handheld Bead Play Toys”. These are toys produced in China and brought into the U.S. by the business. They are made with very low quality control expectations that have caused wires holding small beads to the toys to dislodge given that they have not been constructed with ample adhesive. This has resulted in the toys being classified as a “choking hazard’ for small kids. The affected batch of toys bears a model number of 1501 and are code dated 02910 0432A. The products were sold at niche toy shops for approximately $12.
Family Dollar Stores Inc. of Charlotte, North Carolina, announced a recall of 1,800,000 toy dart gun packages due to a choking risk. This because of the asphyxiation deaths of a nine year old Chicago child and a ten year old Wisconsin boy. The darts being soft and pliable, if put in the mouth of a child can be inhaled into the throat causing asphyxiation. The product has been offered exclusively at Family Dollar Stores. Item numbers affected in this recall are P238 and 9328. Once again, this item was manufactured in China. Consumers may return the dart guns to the retailer for a refund.
Discount School Supply published a voluntary recall in cooperation with the Consumer Protection Safety Commission for somewhere around three thousand units of “Double Egg Shakers”, a cheap package of two play eggs that make a variety of sounds. The red hued eggs contain high quantities of lead, violating federal health and safety specifications. These toys were made in Taiwan and were offered for approximately $3.00 at Discount School Supply merchants from April 2009 to December 2009.
Imagine Nation Books Ltd./Books Are Fun, located in Boulder, Colorado has issued a voluntary recall of the “Fly Dragonfly” toy helicopter. Before the recall 49 accounts of the rechargeable battery in the toy overheating were received. Six reported fire coming from the helicopter. The toy additionally is labeled “Queen Bee” and they carry a SKU# of 51727. The Fly Dragonfly was distributed in gift fairs in schools, office buildings and hospital gift shops for around $38.00. The toy was made in China.
These are just some of a very big list (maintained by a number of consumer agencies) of toy hazzard recalls which bear some risk to being straight up perilous that are built in China. Before you pick up crafted in China, it would certainly be a very good idea to consult any number of consumer defense bureaus prior to presenting it to your child. If you find you own any toy or game that may be unsafe, dispose of it or return it promptly to the retailer. It is against the law to re-sell any item that has been officially declared unsafe and has been recalled by either a government agency or cooperatively by a company.

an orange and purple bird toy that has a belly that opens up with an egg inside that has a baby in it?
My daughter saw this in a commercial on Nickolodian I believe and I can’t figure out what it is or where to find it….PLEASE HELP!!
Basically im thinking that the bird is a stork….like you remember when your little and ask where babies come from, and an adult says “babies come from the stork..”….yea…maybe the stork is holding the baby in an egg in its stomach because well how else is it going to fly?lol
But anyways back to your question, ive been watching nick some lately [i have no clue why lol] and i have never seen a commercial with a toy like that.
But maybe you can just search for a “stork toy” something like that…
How old is your daughter? Im just thinking that maybe she was just saying someone TOLD her about the whole stork story…and just happened to be watching nick and it went on commercial once someone told her…idk i just like deciphering things….hope i helped
